Character Pose Sheet

For my character lifting animation, this is the character that I came up with. Her name is Gigi and she loves fitness and lifting. In my animation, I will show her dead lifting a dumbbell. She will try and not succeed at first but she will eventually succeed in lifting the weight.

Hocus Pocus Rotoscope

This is my rotoscope project. I chose to rotoscope a scene from Hocus Pocus when Sarah Sanderson is singing to entice the children to come to the Sanderson house. It took me 10 hours to animate this frame by frame. I really appreciate how long it took to animate 10 seconds of footage. I can only imagine the effort it takes to animate a feature length film.

Speed Racer Stop Motion

For my Stop Motion film assignment I decided to have a little race car speeding down the side walk on campus. The race car swerves haphazardly and overcomes an obstacle albeit divine intervention. It turns out the race car could not keep racing forever as it bumps into an unsuspecting student. This stop motion film took me awhile to make. It took about an hour to take the pictures to use and several hours to edit together on my slow laptop. I appreciate the filmmakers who make stop motion films more than I did before because it is truly challenging. The style of stop motion I chose was ...

Animatic Assignment

Here is my Car Animatic that was due 02/05. The story is that there is a car racing in the street. It speeds down the road swerving crazily when it encounters an obstacle... a text book. Successfully riding over the text book the car thinks the coast is clear when it suddenly bounces off of a human foot. The girl, the car hits into, likes the car. She picks it up, puts it in her backpack and goes on with her day and heads to Starbucks.

Bouncing Ball Assignment

This is my bouncing ball assignment. We wanted to challenge ourselves by having obstacles in the way of our ball. The ball would a heavier ball like a volleyball because of how it impacts against the obstacles. This assignment was a little difficult because the software we had to use was not working for my partner and I that day so we had to shoot blindly. For shooting blindly I feel we did pretty well. I have an appreciation for stop motion a bit better because of how long it took for this little video to be made compared to massive stop motion films.

Coraline is my favorite Tim Burton clay animated movie!   Behold my childhood cartoons! I also love this animated short by Pixar called "Paperman". Animation is gorgeous!

The First Post

Greetings! My name is Kristen Yurovchak and I am a Junior Digital Arts major and Graphic Design minor at the University of Tampa. Now you may be wondering; why am I taking ART 238 this semester? Well little voice in my head, you may be surprised to find out that I am taking this class because I love animation. Big surprise! It's a generic answer but its true. I have always been fascinated by cartoons and Disney movies when I was younger and as I grew older I began to wish that I could create something that I loved to watch. Well now I can fear no longer for I am taking an animation class. I am hoping this class will help me on my journey into understanding animation and being able to fully appreciate the struggle artists have to go through in order for people to enjoy a story told through just about anything that is animated on the screen. Some facts about me include I am a giant nerd. I love Star Wars, Harry Potter, reading books in my spare time, finding conventions/musical...
